BCCFP Membership
The BC College of Family Physicians (BCCFP) is the heart of family medicine in BC, supporting family physicians in providing equitable, culturally safe, longitudinal care for all British Columbians.
Nationally, we are a Chapter of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), which is the professional organization responsible for establishing standards for the training, certification and lifelong education of Canadian family physicians, and for advocating on behalf of the specialty of family medicine, family physicians and their patients. The CFPC also accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada’s 17 medical schools.
By becoming a member of the CFPC, you become a member of the BCCFP. To become a member, apply online or call 1-800-387-6197, ext. 423.

CCFP Certification
The CCFP (Certification in the College of Family Physicians) is the national standard for training and certification in family medicine. Family medicine residents or practicing physicians in Canada can become CCFP-certified and add the CCFP designation to their title.
The Certification Examination in Family Medicine is open to College members who have either successfully completed an approved residency training program in family medicine or successfully completed a combination of training and practice experience.
Once you complete the CCFP, you will be awarded Certification in Family Medicine and will be CCFP-certified. You can maintain these credentials through your ongoing membership in the BCCFP/CFPC and your participation in the College’s Maintenance of Certification Program (Mainpro+).
