The BCCFP’s annual Award Celebration brings the BC family medicine community together for an evening of connection and recognition of achievement.
This year’s event took place on May 16 in Vancouver, where Dr. Elder Roberta Price shared a welcome address, and speeches were delivered by BCCFP President Dr. Vincent Wong, the Honorable Adrian Dix, Minister of Health and Francophone Affairs, and by CFPC President Mike Green.
Passionate speeches were then given by our incredible 2024 BCCFP Award Recipients, thanking their nominators and going into detail about their experiences as family physicians. This years BC Family Physician of the Year Dr. Laura Phillips, emphasized the crucial support she receives from her patients, husband, and fellow family doctors, expressing gratitude to each of them during her speech.
The night was then concluded with a speech from the Honorable David Eby, Premier of British Columbia, who highlighted the important impact family medicine residents on the health care system and acknowledged the profound impact that every family physician holds within their communities.
“Family doctors play such an important role in the health and well-being of people across British Columbia, helping navigate life’s biggest joys and biggest challenges,” said Premier David Eby in a recent media release.
“On BC Family Doctor Day, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the care, compassion, and unwavering dedication that all of B.C.’s family doctors provide, while recognizing the invaluable contributions they make to the communities they serve.”
