BCCFP offers financial awards to residents in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. There are two categories for the Residents Awards, with awards of $1500 available to five Residents. The criteria for each award is below:
The BCCFP R2 Resident Award is awarded to three R2s graduating from the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. Each will receive $1,500. Recipients will embody one or more of the following:
- Is passionate about advocating for the value of family medicine
- Demonstrates professionalism in their daily work
- Leads by example
- Influences change, whether through direct action or by the way in which they conduct themselves each day
- Practises kindness, thoughtfulness and good communication with peers and patients
Nominations must include at least one supporting letter.
The $1,500 Dr. Manoo and Jean Gurjar Award is awarded to two resident physicians in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. The successful nominee is someone who embodies one or more of the following qualities:

- Demonstrates an appreciation for family medicine
- Shows a commitment to practising comprehensive, longitudinal, relationship-based family medicine
- Is passionate about advocating for the value of family medicine
- Shows compassion for isolated, at-risk and priority communities
- Shows an interest in social justice and serving diverse populations
- Practises good work/life balance and develops resilience
- Has a kind and supportive communication style
- Is willing to go the extra mile for family medicine
Self-nominations are permitted. Nominations must include at least one supporting letter.
