BIPOC Peer Support Group

4-week cohorts: Wednesdays from 4:30–6 p.m. Pacific Time.

  • Cohort 2: May 13–June 3, 2026

This group offers Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) physicians a safe space to discuss their challenges and share their lived experiences. Participants and facilitators support and empower each other by sharing lived experience, processing burdens and leveraging strengths collectively.

Major Depressive Disorder in Adults guideline: Open for External Review

This guideline provides recommendations on the diagnosis and management of major depressive disorder (MDD) for non-pregnant adults ≥19 years old. Physicians who act as external reviewers for BC Guidelines may be eligible to receive credit towards continuing professional development or continuing medical education.

New Mind and Mood Clinical Care Network

June 1, 2026

The Mind and Mood Clinical Care Network is a new physician-referral service launching June 1, 2026, for adults living with mood or anxiety disorders. The network offers psychiatric assessment and consultation, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills training, Food as Medicine, and Yoga Therapy available both in-office and virtually across BC.

Eight psychiatrists are joining the program, including six formerly with the Mood Disorder Association of BC. Referrals can be submitted starting May 15 at mindandmoodbc.ca.

2026 Annual CACAP Conference

June 6-9, 2026

The Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) is holding its 45th Annual Conference June 6–9, 2026, in St. John's, Newfoundland (with a virtual option). This year's theme is "It Takes a Village", and centres on collaboration in child and youth psychiatry care and research.

Over three days, attendees can expect keynotes, symposia, workshops, and networking sessions covering research, clinical practice, system-level collaboration, and culturally informed care. The conference welcomes clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and advocates.

Join the Canadian Doctor's Orchestra

The Canadian Doctors Orchestra (CDO) is a new national non-profit that unites physicians, residents, and medical students who play orchestral music. Participants prepare individually from shared repertoire, then gather in a host city for two days of rehearsals and a public charity concert. The inaugural event is set for Victoria, BC in December 2026, with all proceeds going to health-related charities. Beyond the music, the CDO aims to build community among healthcare professionals and support wellness outside of clinical practice.

Canadian Doctor's Orchestra

CME Accredited free online Courses for Family Doctors - Treating your patients with Spinal Cord Injury

Created by expert physiatrists and backed by evidence, the Spinal Cord Injury Research Evidence (SCIRE) team partnered with SCI-BC and the UBC Department Family of Practice to create four 1-hour courses that give you the info you need on Bladder Management, Skin Health, Blood Pressure Irregularities, and Cardiovascular Health in people with SCI.

Online and presented in short video form, you can earn your CME credits (MainPro+ 1.0 for each 1-hour course) at your own pace and schedule for free.

Pharmacotherapy for Obesity Management: Accredited Course

This is a self-paced, accredited online program ($149) that walks clinicians through the latest Obesity Canada guidelines on pharmacologic treatments for adult obesity. Across multiple modules, participants learn how to apply evidence-based decision-making to initiate and adjust pharmacotherapy based on individual patient needs.

The program is worth up to 4 Mainpro+ credits for family physicians, 4 Section 3 Self-Assessment hours for Royal College specialists, and 4 continuing education hours for all other health professionals.

Obesity Canada - Pharmacotherapy for Obesity Management

Online Course: Down Syndrome for Medical Professionals

Individuals with Down syndrome have a higher risk of many different health issues throughout life. This online, self-paced course provides an overview of medical care for people with Down syndrome throughout the lifespan, beginning with diagnosis. This course delivers expertise from some of North America's leading Down syndrome specialists including Dr. Marilyn Bull, Dr. Peter Bulova, Dr. Jonathan Santoro, Dr. Eileen Quinn, Dr. Elizabeth Head, Dr. Brian Chicoine, Dr. Brian Skotko, and Dr. Aven Poynter, along with the professional team of the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation (Burnaby, BC).

This activity has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 2 Mainpro+ credits.
