Through your BCCFP membership, you automatically become a member of our Section of Residents, or SOR. The SOR is your voice within the BCCFP, enabling you to speak up about the training and professional development opportunities and practice issues that are important to you.

The Canada-wide SOR Council is composed of elected R1 and R2 representatives from each family medicine program across Canada. Its mandate is to improve family medicine training. The Council is a strong voice for all family medicine residents and has significant input in CFPC and BCCFP initiatives and policies.

Currently, the SOR Council is involved in advocating on several issues that affect residents across Canada: duty hours, competency-based medical education and health human resources. The Council has also provided feedback to the CFPC around the new harmonized exam, the Section of Family Physicians with Special Interests or Focused Practices (SIFP) and Mainpro+® .
