The BCCFP’s annual awards program recognizes exceptional family physicians, residents and medical students. The unique College Coin and the Exceptional Teacher Honour are awarded throughout the year.
Annual family physician awards
My Family Doctor Award
The My Family Doctor Award is the BCCFP’s patient-nominated award that honours the patient-doctor relationship. Nominations from patients or family members are due by March 31 each year.
BC Family Physician of the Year
The BC Family Physician of the Year Award recognizes a family physician who provides exemplary care to patients and takes part in activities that contribute to excellence in family medicine. Nominations are due by March 31 each year. The BCCFP may also nominate the recipient of this award for the CFPC Reg L. Perkin BC Family Physician of the Year Award.
First Five Years of Practice Award
The First Five Years of Practice Award recognizes an exceptional family physician in the early stage of their career. Nominations are due by March 31 each year.
The BCCFP offers financial awards for residents in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program, including a leadership award. Nominations are due by March 31 each year.
Year-round family physician honours
The College Coin is a unique BCCFP initiative designed to honour family physicians who deserve recognition for their work. Nominations are considered throughout the year, and it’s easy to nominate a colleague.
Exceptional Teacher Honour
The Exceptional Teacher honour recognizes some of BC’s dedicated community-based teachers and mentors. Nominations are considered throughout the year.
Medical student awards
The BCCFP’s financial awards for medical students are for fourth-year students entering the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. The deadline for nominations is usually in summer.
