We’re excited to share that May 19 has once again been proclaimed as BC Family Doctor Day!

We know it’s been a hard past year for family physicians as you have continuously adapted to the pandemic and made personal sacrifices to keep British Columbians healthy. We received a record number of nominations for our My Family Doctor Award. Over 350 people shared amazing stories of how their family physician changed their life for the better. We also got a record number of nominations for our peer-nominated awards, telling us that family physicians have appreciated incredible support from colleagues over the past year.

Award recipients will be announced as part of our Family Doctor Day celebrations in May.

Family doctors are good for your health: public digital ad campaign

Building on the success of last year’s My Family Doctor Cares public advocacy campaign, our campaign website is now updated with new messaging to let the public know that family physicians are experts in caring for patients as whole people, resulting in better overall health outcomes and higher satisfaction with the health care system. We’re emphasizing that an ongoing relationship with a family physician is best for a person’s health and promoting the Pathways Medical Care Directory to help match those who are seeking a family physician.

We’re launching a digital ad campaign across provincial news and health-related sites to drive people to the campaign website. The ads will run for three weeks from tomorrow, leading up to BC Family Doctor Day.

Celebrating the specialty of family medicine

NEWDownload this Zoom background to use in online meetings to let physician colleagues, health authorities and other stakeholders know you are a specialist.

We look forward to celebrating the invaluable work of family physicians throughout the coming weeks.
