During the COVID-19 pandemic, helping patients avoid health deterioration is key to keeping them out of the hospital. Family doctors are the primary contact for their patients, supporting them via virtual care and in-person assessments.

This live-stream webinar will focus on office-based management when caring for patients face-to-face during the pandemic. Topics will include aspects of viral transmission in the office, personal protective equipment recommendations (with consideration of limited resources), practice modifications, and cleaning guidance.

Dr. Allison McGeer (microbiologist and infectious disease consultant in Ontario) and Dr. Jennifer Young (Ontario family physician and president of the Ontario College of Family Physicians), along with host Dr. Allan Grill of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), will lead a discussion to help keep patients and physicians safe. This session will include time for your questions and will be useful for all family doctors adapting to virtual care.

This session will be available in English only.

This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning activity has been certified by the CFPC for one Mainpro+® credit.

If you miss a live-stream webinar—including “The COVID-19 Pivot: Adapting Family Practice to Virtual Care” (English only)—you can access recordings online. Recorded live-stream webinars are eligible for non-certified credits in the Self-Learning category. Mainpro+ participants may also earn certified credits by completing a Linking Learning Exercise.
