The College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) primary aim at the moment is to support you during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of the significant pressures you are experiencing, both personally and professionally, the CFPC will be implementing the following actions:

  • Waiving the 2019-2020 annual continuing professional development (CPD) requirements (25 certified and/or non-certified credits)
  • Extending all current Mainpro+ cycles by one year to allow you more time to acquire 250 credits

Implementing these changes in Mainpro+ will take a few weeks. The CFPC will send an update when this work has been completed. Should you wish to enter CPD activities in Mainpro+ to count toward your requirements, please continue to do so.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is making a similar announcement today. Both colleges have the approval of the provincial/territorial medical regulatory authorities in this decision to support physicians by waiving annual CPD requirements and extending CPD cycles.

Should you have any questions about your CPD requirements, please contact [email protected].

Please accept our thanks and admiration for working tirelessly at the forefront of this pandemic. We continue to be inspired by the stories of camaraderie, compassion, and commitment we are hearing during this most unprecedented time.
