From the BC Children’s Hospital…

“Tic Busters” is a group treatment program offered through the Neuropsychiatry Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital. The group is targeted to children and youth with tics that are currently causing impairment or interference in some aspect of day-to-day life.  Tic Busters is a group adaptation of Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics (CBIT), a manualized, evidence-based treatment for managing tics.  The program is designed to allow for many and varied opportunities to practice strategies for managing tics that are specific to each child.  Criteria for group eligibility are as follows:

– Children aged 9-12 with tics or a tic disorder
– Tics are currently significantly interfering with some aspect of day-to-day life
– Co-morbid mental health disorders are either secondary to tics, or if another disorder is the primary diagnosis it is currently well managed
– Low average or higher intellectual functioning and the child does not meet criteria for an Autism Spectrum Disorder
– Parent involvement in group session is required

Day: Wednesdays March 29th – May17th, 2017
Length: 8 weekly sessions plus one individual and one group follow-up session
Time: 3:45 – 5:30pm
