We are pleased to launch our revised My Family Doctor Cares public campaign this week.
Our new campaign message is that “your family doctor is in” – whether by phone, video or in-person appointment. Through our television public service announcement, digital ads and campaign website, we let British Columbians know that family physicians have rapidly adapted their practices to create safe appointment options, with social distancing guidelines followed and practices put in place to make the clinic a safe environment when in-person appointments are necessary.
We are reminding the public that taking care of their health is more important than ever – and that evidence shows an ongoing relationship between a patient and their family doctor is one of the key factors proven to help prevent disease, change the outcome of disease and prolong life. We want patients to know that their family doctor is still here for them, no matter the health issue.
Our campaign relaunch includes:
- Updated www.myfamilydoctorcares.ca website
- 15-second public service announcement to air on Global TV and as a YouTube advertisement beginning Friday, April 17
- Digital display ads airing on trusted provincial news sites and BC- specific online sources of health care information from Friday, April 17
- Patient-oriented video on our campaign website explaining what to expect from a virtual appointment
Thanks goes to Board member Dr. Justine Spencer who represents all family doctors in the TV public service announcement and website video.
The campaign will run for several weeks as patients continue to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic. We hope that this long-term approach will have a lasting impact on British Columbians’ awareness of their health care options and the accessibility of their family physician.
