Earlier this month, BCCFP President Dr. Christie Newton provided the BC government’s Select Standing Committee on Health with BCCFP’s position on the Patient’s Medical Home (PMH). Her presentation and report included:

  • Our vision for PMH in BC;
  • The role of our organization and the CFPC in assisting family physicians’ transition to team-based care in BC;
  • The essential elements required to make team-based care successful, including continuing professional development, appropriate infrastructure and physician remuneration, and flexibility in meeting the needs of individual communities and practices; and
  • The outcomes that can be achieved for better patient care and a better health care system if robust government support is provided for PMH within system-wide primary care homes.

The complete BCCFP report to the Select Standing Committee on Health is posted on our Patient’s Medical  Home resource page.
