High Ferritin – Investigation and Management: Open for External Review until March 31, 2021

This guideline is a revision of the 2013 guideline HFE-Associated Hereditary Hemochromatosis Investigations and Management. The purpose of this guideline is to provide recommendations to primary care practitioners for the investigation and management of elevated ferritin levels in adults. Updates include recommendations for the differential diagnosis of high ferritin, interpreting results from HFE-HH genetic testing, indications for specialist referral, whom not to perform genetic testing for HFE-HH, and clarified instructions for filling out the laboratory requisition for HFE-HH genetic testing.

Suspected Lung Cancer in Primary Care: Open for External Review until April 9, 2021

This guideline provides recommendations for primary care providers for the investigation and management of adult patients (≥19 years of age) who present with signs or symptoms that could lead to a diagnosis of lung cancer. Recommendations include the clinical assessment and appropriate referral of patients to a specialist.
This guideline was developed in collaboration with the BC Cancer Primary Care Program (Family Practice Oncology Network).

Cataract – Treatment of Adults: Open for External Review until April 9, 2021

This update to the 2005 guideline provides recommendations for primary care providers in the prevention, diagnosis, management and postoperative care of cataracts for adults (age 19 and older). Key updates include new reference tables, postoperative care ‘red flags’ and a patient pathway.
