My Family Doctor Cares is our province-wide awareness and advocacy campaign to bring attention to the value of a long-term relationship with a family doctor, and the difficulty that 700,000 British Columbians are having in finding a family doctor.
There are a number of easy ways in which members can help support the campaign.
Read our position paper and research results
Our position paper, Family Doctors Care: The Role and Value of Family Physicians in British Columbia, summarizes the results of the public and member polling research that the BCCFP conducted through an independent research company in the summer of 2019. It also summarizes key findings from desk-side research on the role and value of family physicians. The paper will be presented to members of the legislative assembly and we have requested to meet with the BC Minister of Health to present the report in person.
Share posters, social media posts, photos and more
In the members-only Learning Vault, you will find materials to help you share the campaign message, including:
- Posters to download and print for display in your clinic or office.
- Social media templates and images to download and use on your social channels.
- My Family Doctor Cares logo to add to your email signature or online presence.
- Stickers you can request for use at events or to distribute in your clinic or office.
Write to your MLA – it takes less than two minutes
Our online tool allows family physicians to send a letter to your MLA in just a few clicks.
Simply enter your name, email and postal code to let your MLA know about the value of family medicine, your experience as a family physician, and the difficulty British Columbians have in accessing a family physician. Follow this link to make your voice heard!
Encourage members of the public to write to their MLA
There is also a tool on our campaign website for members of the public to write to their MLA about the need for improved access to family physicians. Please share with your patients, family and friends.
Momentum continues to grow for our public advocacy campaign. The www.myfamilydoctorcares.ca website has had over 5,500 visits and our digital ads have been seen over 2 million times.
