Today, let’s take a moment to celebrate family physicians across BC and the world over. Family physicans are the backbone of our healthcare system, fulfilling many roles and each bringing something unique and invaluable to our communities.

This was clearly demonstrated in the nominations for, and speeches from, this year’s BCCFP Award Recipients which which were filled with gratitude, kindness and compassion.

Our mission is to build a system that celebrates and supports family doctors today and every day. We still face some hurdles ahead but we are more optimistic than ever about the future of family medicine.

We are committed to advocating for fair compensation, reducing administrative burdens, and ensuring family physicians have the support needed to thrive in their practice.

Collaboration is key to our success. By standing united, we can achieve more for our profession and our patients.

With upcoming elections, primary care is in the spotlight. We’re harnessing our collective voice to drive positive change and highlight the essential role of family physicians in our health care system.

We were encouraged by the words of both Premier David Eby and Minister Adrian Dix at our Awards Celebration on Thursday night – a recording of which we’ll be able to share with you very soon!

“Family doctors play such an important role in the health and well-being of people across British Columbia, helping navigate life’s biggest joys and biggest challenges,” said Premier David Eby in a recent media release.

“On BC Family Doctor Day, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the care, compassion, and unwavering dedication that all of B.C.’s family doctors provide, while recognizing the invaluable contributions they make to the communities they serve.”

Happy Family Doctor Day!
