At our April 4 Board meeting, Dr. Jeanette Boyd was elected as president of the BCCFP effective immediately and will serve to the next Annual General Meeting. Dr. Boyd had previously held this role from November 2017 to November 2019.
Dr. Boyd is proud to call herself a rural generalist and feels very privileged to live and work in the community of Nelson. A BCCFP Director for over ten years, she also has roles with the Rural Coordination Centre of BC, the GPSC Maternity Working Group, Perinatal Services BC, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Boyd believes in the importance of developing relationships, ensuring consistency, and building consensus to bring about meaningful change. She has strong experience in nurturing relationships and consensus building with provincial and national health organizations.
Dr. Boyd replaces Dr. Anthon Meyer, who resigned from the BCCFP Board of Directors on March 13 following his appointment as the incoming physician co-chair of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC). Dr. Meyer’s commitment to family medicine and strong advocacy work will continue to provide benefit to BC’s family physicians as he takes on this important new portfolio. We look forward to continuing to work with him and thank Dr. Meyer for his service to the BCCFP and congratulate him on his new role.
