The BCCFP is located on the unceded traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the traditional territories of xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
In what we now call British Columbia, the landscapes of towering mountains and lush forests are more than just breathtaking scenery; they stand on land that has witnessed centuries of Indigenous history. Against this backdrop, we come together to honour an incredibly important day – the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
September 30 serves as a poignant reminder of the need to confront our nation’s painful past and build a future rooted in justice, understanding, and reconciliation.
As we continue on our own journey towards reconciliation, we appreciate that everyone’s personal journey is unique. We invite you to join us in honouring the lives of the children who didn’t make it home and all of those who continue to be impacted by the residential school system.
